Prop Art Residency

Everything here began with a prop. An egg tray became a palette; bodies became canvases; a box of matchsticks became architecture when one of our artists — an architect — showed us how to build miniatures, which we then smuggled into the photoshoots. We ran one long live-painting session, sketched each other mid-pose, and everyone sat for their own portrait. We lit frames with whatever was at hand — a torch, the sun, the glow of the TV. We cooked together, watched a film about art while we sketched, and I read aloud from one artist's own book of poems.
